Found this in a blog today, completely touched me… found myself connecting to the words and the people that were saying them. It basically reflects the thoughts and the lives of people like me and other people who are being oppressed for different reasons…

We are the couple who had the realtor hang up on us when she found out we wanted to rent a one-bedroom for two men.

I am the person who never knows which bathroom I should use if I want to avoid getting the management called on me.

I am the mother who is not allowed to even visit the children I bore, nursed, and raised. The court says I am an unfit mother because I now live with another woman.

I am the domestic-violence survivor who found the support system grow suddenly cold and distant when they found out my abusive partner is also a woman.

I am the domestic-violence survivor who has no support system to turn to because I am male.

I am the father who has never hugged his son because I grew up afraid to show affection to other men.

I am the boy who never finished high school, because I got called a fag everyday.

I am the girl kicked out of her home because I confided in my mother that I am a lesbian.

I am the prostitute working the streets because nobody will hire a transsexual woman.

I am the sister who holds her gay brother tight through the painful, tear-filled nights.

We are the parents who buried our daughter long before her time.

I am the man who died alone in the hospital because they would not let my partner of twenty-seven years into the room.

I am the foster child who wakes up with nightmares of being taken away from the two fathers who are the only loving family I have ever had. I wish they could adopt me.

I am not one of the lucky ones. I killed myself just weeks before graduating high school.

I am the woman who died when the EMTs stopped treating me as soon as they realized I was transsexual.

I am the person who feels guilty because I think I could be a much better person if I didnt have to always deal with society hating me.

I am the man who stopped attending church, not because I don’t
believe, but because they closed their doors to my kind.

I am the person who has to hide what this world needs most, love.

I am the person who carefully hides my loving relationship from my social worker because I’m afraid the state would take away my foster kids (even though I’m the only mom they’ve ever had) if they knew I was a lesbian.

I am the person ashamed to tell my own friends im a lesbian, because they constantly make fun of them.

I am the boy tied to a fence, beaten to a bloody pulp and left to
die because two straight men wanted to “teach me a lesson”.

Together, We Can Change The World, One Mind At A Time!

The same person who had this caught my attention first with this article that she took from a newspaper… details are irrelevant, just follow the link. I just wanted to scream a guttural angry yes when I saw this article. I wish that most ppl would get their head out of the ground and actually think for themself, instead of making excuses to brush something under the carpet that makes them squeamish and use the excuses and garbage that other people think up not to confront it. Try to f@&king understand it!

Smiley has raised a flag in my mind with the prediction that follows:

This is the year of the color, red.

What exactly does that mean, and how does that relate to gay people?

First of all, red obviously resembles the color of blood.  This is why the Romans associated this color with the god of war (Mars, also associated with the month of March); and why the red planet is also named this.  In today’s terms and in the world of gays – it will be a revolutionary year (like war).  Not so much in violence and bloodshed; but more so in vocalness (much like the racial protests of the 60’s).  I think that 2007 will be a harbinger year signifying all the frustrations we’ve carried inside (for a long time).

Red is also the color of the passion (emotion), romance, and sex, thus the red of a valentine heart and of a “red light district.”

To me, it’s clear that 2007 will have a “Gay Summer of Love.”  Something which will make the history books.  Could it have to do with gay marriage?

Lastly, in Chinese Symbolism, red is the color of good luck.  I believe it will be a ‘good fortune‘ year for gays.  If any of you get married, you should wear some red in your outfit.  Planting red flowers in MARCH; would be a good idea, also.

And there you have it!

My 1st Annual Gay Predictions.

For me, it’s going to be “The Year of the Red Gala.”

It reflects what I’m feeling right now, a urge to take a stand and do something about the situation that people like me find ourselves in, not only in this Homophobic paradise they call Jamaica, but maybe even the world. Whether its a true prediction or just a self-fulfilling one (which is contradictingin and of itself… but anyway whole other topic) the pen will be my sword… well in this case the keyboard (I hope that packs more of a wallop).
